This journal is intended to clear any confusion (between fellow member artists and fellow moderators) on how we describe and define the titles of our gallery folders.1
To start, we have to distinguish the difference between OCs and FCs; OCs
(stylized as Original Characters,
) are characters developed independently, and created from the own artist's original perspective, or original universe. (Art trades are also considered OCs,
given that the character-in-question has been developed in the original artist's own universe.) We can give EXCEPTION
for characters drawn in a popular artists' style (i.e. Ken Sugimori, Pendleton Ward, Lauren Faust, etc.) please specify whether they belong in an original universe, or else it is cleared only and specifically,
to any folder with the FC
(stylized as Fan-Based Original Characters,
) are characters also developed independently; but
characters considered self-inserts, or characters developed dependent to the universe of any particular fandom (i.e. Pokemon, Friendship is Magic, Adventure Time, Naruto, Hetalia, etc.) are characters that belong in the FC
labels of the OC-Club. Also, if the deviation is featured in any Fan Art club, or tagged "Fan Art" in their category, they all belong into folders labelled FC
in them.2 The Criteria for OC-Club Gallery Folders
, would further focus us fellow members and moderators to where we should submit our deviations to.
Folders tagged Portraits,
should include deviations that should include a face or a head
of the character. This also includes if the character is from head-to-chest, head-to-torso, or even head-to-ankle.
Folders tagged Full-Body
are simply deviations that have characters that are strictly and exactly from head-to-toe,
(meaning their hair, arms, appendages, wings, tails, legs, hands, fingers, feet and toes and their accompanying worn accessories/clothing are all in the deviation in question
) and as well as they are standing or sitting upright.
Folders tagged Sheets
are deviations that serve as references that feature the character, as well as if the deviation also includes (i.e. character expressions, character movement models, character items, character models, character palette/textures, character text, etc.) to be included in the deviation. Also, if the description or the character text of the deviation includes a character description or a character biography (especially if there is a lot of detail emphasized in it,) they should also belong to folders tagged Sheets.
Folders tagged Sketches
are simply deviations that are considered WIPs (Works-In-Progress
,) or deviations that use either one-to-two colors,
or simply shades (basically black, grey, or even white.) EXCEPTION: IF the deviations is fully, or completely colored, then it must not be submitted to folders tagged Sketches
, but to other folders in our gallery. Also, lineart are accepted here.
Folders tagged as OC Character Sheets, Profiles, References
are reserved for deviations (either OC
) that possess qualities of folders labelled Sheets.
in addition, any colored WIP can be accepted here.
Folders tagged as OC ect.
are the deviations that accept a variety of OC and FC deviations. OC Memes are accepted here as well.
folder accepts either OC or FC deviations that are considered a complete cover page, or complete comic page, or even a complete comic panel, as long as it is colored or shaded completely.3 OCA Hierarchy of Submissions
is the name of a set of questionnaires to further focus and clear the deviation into a specific folder.a )
Does the deviation feature Mature Content
? If yes, please check if it is submitted to folders labelled "NSFW Sexual
" or "NSFW Alternative
." (For further clarification, please consult the criterion for Mature Content
deviations in the journal, "OCA 0001 - NSFW Designations Act."b )
Is the deviation sketched? Is it a WIP? Is it lineart? If the deviation has yes in one of either these categories, the deviations has to be moved to either OCs Sketches
or FCs Sketches
. If no, continue reading this guide.c )
Does the deviations exhibit any references (i.e. character color palletes, models, descriptive biographies and/or descriptions?) If yes, the deviation has to be moved to either folders labelled Sheets,
or to the OC Character Sheets, Profiles, References
folder. If no, continue down this guideline.d )
Is the deviation displaying its subject character to be standing or sitting upright, and their limbs, appendages, accessories are displayed complete and full from head-to-toe? If yes, these deviations should be moved to folders labelled Full-Body.
If not, those deviations are to be displayed or moved to folders labelled with Portraits.
Hope these clears everything about gallery folders, their submissions and approval by either the member artists or moderators our club, The-Official-OC-Club.NOTE: Be sure you submit your art to the correct folders!
If your art was declined for seemingly no reason, it may be because it was submitted to the wrong folder. Make sure you file it right according to these guidelines!
